The ABTO Secretariat has announced the ABTO Executive Committee Members of 2008 - 2009. The Executive Committee Members were voted for by the general members of ABTO at the recent 8th ABTO Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 23rd of May.
During the 42nd Executive Committee Members’ (of ABTO) meeting, the members unanimously re-elected Mr. Yeshey Norbu of Norbu Bhutan as the President and Mr. Rinzin O. Wangchuk of Yu-Druk Tours as the Vice President of ABTO.
The Ministry of Labour & Human Resources (MoLHR) will be organizing the 6th National Job Fair on 7th and 8th of June, 2008 at Swimming Pool Sports Complex, Thimphu.
As all of us are aware that the objective of the National Job Fair is to promote and facilitate employment opportunities in the private and corporate sectors. It is one of the many initiatives of the Royal Government to bring together into a single platform, the job seekers and job providers.
The ABTO Secretariat announced in an email to all its members, the tentative agenda for the 8th Annual General Meeting. ABTO also requires you to confirm your participation latest by 20th May, to enable them to make proper sitting arrangements and lunch.
With the ABTO Annual General Meeting scheduled for the 23rd of May 2008, the ABTO Secretariat sent out the following email to all tour operators saying that you can vote for ABTO Board of Directors only if you have paid your ABTO membership. According to the attached list, only 157 tour operators have paid their membership fees.

have evaluated the nominations received and short listed the 29 nominees for the ABTO Board of Directors as attached. The nominations were short listed based on securing minimum of 5 nominations per nominee as announced earlier.
In an email to all its member tour operators, ABTO urged the importance of electing a strong Board of Directors in it’s upcoming Annual General Meeting. The email read as:
Although the last date for submission of names of the candidates for the next ABTO Board of Directors is 9th May 2008, this is to kindly remind all our valued members for the submission of the names of the 9 appropriate candidates.
In an email sent out to all the Bhutanese tour operators, the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO) announced the date and the agenda for the forthcoming annual general meeting.
The announcement email read as following:-
As per the decision of the 40th Executive Committee Meeting, the 8th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO), will be held on 23rd May 2008 at Taj Tashi Conference Hall. The 8th AGM which is traditionally scheduled in the beginning of each year has been postponed this year due to the Election.
The Immigration Authorities in Nepal have notified that henceforth all foreigners visiting Bhutan are required to present necessary visa clearance documents issued by the Department of Immigration, Bhutan without which they will be denied boarding. (As of now they have to show only at the Druk Air check in counter).
